The Barcolana is one of the most famous and popular regattas in the world, celebrated every year in the Gulf of Trieste. The first edition dates back to 1969, thanks to the initiative of a group of sailing enthusiasts, and since then it has become a symbolic event of the city. Every year thousands of boats, from large yachts to small cabin cruisers, compete in the spectacular scenery of the Gulf, creating a unique and evocative view.
In addition to the sporting competition, the Barcolana is a real celebration for Trieste and its inhabitants. During the week of the event, the city comes alive with concerts, exhibitions, cultural meetings and initiatives for families, which accompany the main regatta and make the event a moment of aggregation and celebration of maritime tradition.
The 57th edition will be held from 3 to 12 October 2025, with the main regatta scheduled for Sunday 12 October at 10.30am. The Barcolana is not just a sailing race: it is an opportunity to discover the history, culture and passion for the sea of Trieste, living a unique experience for participants and spectators.
